The blind spot in every access log

Tailgating happens when a second person follows an authorized member through an entrance on a single scan. Sometimes it’s deliberate. Often it’s just one member holding the door for a friend. Either way, the access log shows one valid entry, while the entrance itself saw two.

In an unstaffed gym, nobody is at the door to notice. The mismatch only becomes visible weeks later, when monthly visitor counts don’t line up with membership numbers.

Counting entries, not identities
