How the AI-CAM works
The AI-CAM sits at the entrance and counts the number of people passing through in real time. At the same time it receives the number of valid access control reads from the gate or reader. When those two numbers diverge, meaning more people entered than credentials were scanned, the system treats this as a tailgating event, captures a video clip of the entry, and sends it automatically to whoever is designated to review incidents. The review queue builds up passively and does not require anyone to monitor a live feed. Management reviews flagged clips on their own schedule and takes action where needed.
Why a gate makes it more accurate
The AI-CAM works with any entrance, including door-only setups. The difference is in what you can prove and act on. With a door, multiple members can enter on a single swipe and each of them may have a valid membership, making it very difficult to establish who actually misused access. With a speed gate or turnstile, one credential opens one passage, so any additional person who enters is unambiguously there without authorisation. The gate removes the ambiguity. When a full-height gate is used, entry without assistance from an authorised member is not physically possible. This means the system can always identify the account holder who facilitated the unauthorised entry. If that obligation is stated in the membership agreement, the facility has a clear basis for charging the member for the incident.
Integration with member management
The AI-CAM connects to your existing member management software and access control system. The integration is what enables the comparison between camera-counted entries and logged access events. Without it the camera can still detect people, but the system cannot determine whether a given entry was authorised or not. Gatech handles the integration setup as part of the deployment.
Optional: facility monitoring
An optional facility-wide camera add-on extends the system beyond the entrance to cover the gym floor, showing equipment usage rates, occupancy by area and other operational data. This is a separate service and can be added to the entrance monitoring setup. Contact Gatech for details.
