Speed Gates

Speed gates are ideal choices for spaces where it's important to prevent multiple people from passing simultaneously during one opening, a phenomenon also known as "tailgating." Speed gates are particularly popular due to their ability to allow quick passage without significantly restricting movement. Although they are often visually impressive and technically advanced, their cost can be higher compared to other options.

Tripod Gate

Tripod gates offer an effective solution for preventing tailgating, similar to speed gates. However, their structure, consisting of arms, can affect the flexibility of passage. For instance, larger suitcases might pose challenges in passing through. Despite this, tripod gates (or waist-height turnstiles) are a significantly more affordable option compared to speed gates.

Swing Gates

Swing gates are a popular choice, especially for people with reduced mobility as well as for goods delivery. They are ideal alongside tripod gates or for temporary access control, such as managing group movements. However, wing gates are not the most effective in preventing tailgating due to their long opening and closing times, which allows multiple individuals to pass through on a single authentication.

Full-Height Turnstiles

Full-height turnstiles are an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor locations where it is important to effectively prevent tailgating. They are particularly popular in unmonitored areas such as construction sites and unstaffed gyms, where security and reliable access control are of utmost importance.

In addition to tailgating, another common misuse of gates is jumping over them. Higher options are available in all the previously mentioned categories (except for tripod gates). Increasing the height of a gate often also increases its price and potentially the passage speed, as heavier glass wings open more slowly.
